The Royal Palace of the Magdalena, property of the municipality and catalogued as a historical artistic building, is the seat of the International University of Menendez Pelayo during the summer months. The Palace itself covers 16,000 sq. metres and the coverted stables and adjacent buildings provide a further 10,000 sq. metres. The Royal Palce, totally refurbished, is equipped with the up - to - date technology required for the celebration of all kinds of meetings, congresses and conventions. It has over twenty rooms of size and capacity, an exhibition area in the main hall with sapace for sixty two metres - long stands, two private dining rooms and two cafeterias.
The building is designed to accomodate Congresses, Company anual general meetings and similar large scale reunions. It has two amphiteatres, a large auditorium, entrance hall suitable for use as an exhibition area, and a cafeteria. Equiped with the latest audio and video technology, there is individual air - conditioning in every seat, and a sophisticated security system.
The Casino itself offer most games, including French and American routellete, Black Jack, and non - discarding Poker, besides slot machines and video games. Santander´s range of facilities also includes those offered by the Cultural Centre of Caja Cantabria (The Regional Savings Bank), by the University, and by the extensive variety of hotels. CANTABRIA
The Palce of Festivals and Congresses of
Cantabria was desingned by the Navarranarchitect Saiz de Oiza. In
summer it stages the International Festival of Santander and for the
rest of the year offers a variety of cultural activities sponsored
by the Regional Goverment´s Arts Council.
The Grand Casino of the Sardinero,
in the Plaza de Italia, symbolizes the past and present of Sanatnder
as a national holiday resort. From its elegant terrace one can see
the most fashionable of the city´s magnificient beaches, and
the beautifully laid out Piquio Gardens. The casino fine architecture,
unique situation and the qualityand variety of its service make it
an ideal venue for meetings and company luncheons or dinners.
